Children Express Their Dreams Through Art

Activities Posted on Fri, May 22, 2026 13:12:02

Eid is a time of joy, celebration, and togetherness. This year, Alingan Foundation organized a special Eid Drawing Competition for children living in Korail slum, creating an opportunity for them to express their creativity, imagination, and dreams through art.

The event brought together enthusiastic young participants who filled their drawings with color, emotion, and personal stories. Each artwork reflected a unique perspective, allowing the children to share how they see the world around them.

Art Beyond Paper

The drawing competition was not just about creating beautiful pictures. It was an opportunity for children to express their thoughts, hopes, and cultural identity in a creative way.

Some children drew peaceful village scenes, reflecting memories or dreams of rural life. Others filled their pages with blue skies, colorful birds, green fields, and natural landscapes. Many created Eid Mubarak artwork to celebrate the spirit of Eid and the happiness that comes with the festival.

Several participants chose to draw things they love most, while others illustrated their dreams for the future. Through simple drawings and bright colors, the children shared stories that words alone could not fully express.

Celebrating Creativity and Imagination

Every child has a unique voice, and art can be one of the most powerful ways to express it. The competition encouraged children to think creatively, build confidence, and proudly share their ideas with others.

Their artwork showcased imagination, talent, and optimism. Despite the challenges many of them face in daily life, their drawings reflected hope, happiness, and the desire for a brighter future.

Preserving Culture Through Art

Many drawings also highlighted cultural traditions and Eid celebrations. From festive greetings to family gatherings and community life, the children captured moments that are important to them and their communities.

These artworks serve as reminders that creativity exists everywhere and that every child deserves opportunities to learn, create, and express themselves.

Why Activities Like This Matter

Creative activities play an important role in children’s development. They encourage self-expression, improve confidence, and provide a positive environment where children can explore their talents.

For many children in underserved communities, events like this offer valuable opportunities to participate, learn new skills, and experience the joy of being recognized for their efforts.

At Alingan Foundation, we believe every child deserves the chance to dream, create, and be heard.

A Day Filled with Smiles

The Eid Drawing Competition was more than just an event. It was a celebration of creativity, culture, and childhood. The smiles on the children’s faces and the stories behind their drawings made the day truly memorable.

We are grateful to everyone who supports our efforts to create meaningful experiences for children and help them discover their potential.

Ratna’s Dream to Become a Doctor

Support Posted on Tue, December 30, 2025 05:37:27

A Real Story of Education, Poverty, and Hope in Korail Slum

In the heart of Korail slum, Dhaka, where survival is a daily struggle, lives a young girl named Ratna. Surrounded by poverty, limited resources, and uncertainty, Ratna carries a dream that refuses to disappear.

She wants to become a doctor-not for fame or money, but to serve people.

This is her real story.

Life Inside Korail Slum: A Daily Battle

Korail is one of the largest slums in Bangladesh. Families here face constant challenges:

  • No reliable gas for cooking
  • Unsafe drinking water
  • Poor roads and sanitation
  • Irregular electricity
  • Extremely limited income

Ratna’s family survives on her father’s income as a security guard and her brother’s job as a cleaner. Despite their hard work, the income is not enough to support education for all children in the family.

Because of financial hardship:

  • Ratna’s elder brothers had to stop studying and start working
  • Her sisters were married off early
  • Education became a privilege, not a right

Yet Ratna continues to study.

Education: Ratna’s Only Way Forward

Ratna is currently studying in Class 6. She attends coaching at Alingan Foundation, where she receives educational support, care, and encouragement.

Her parents deeply want her to succeed-but their means are limited.

“We want Ratna to study and fulfill her dream,” her mother says.
“But without support, it may not be possible.”

This is the reality for thousands of underprivileged children in Bangladesh-talent and dreams trapped by poverty.

The Story of Shariful: A Boy Who Dreams Beyond the Limits of Poverty

Support Posted on Sat, November 22, 2025 06:02:21

At Alingan Foundation, our mission is simple yet powerful: to bring education, dignity, and hope to children living in the slums of Bangladesh. Every child deserves the chance to dream. Every child deserves the chance to learn. And every child’s story deserves to be heard with respect.

Today, we share the journey of a young boy whose quiet resilience stands as a reminder of why our work matters-Md Shariful Hasan, a 12-year-old living in Korail Slum, Dhaka.

Growing Up Amid Struggles

Korail Slum is one of the largest informal settlements in Dhaka, where narrow walkways, tiny rooms, and crowded homes tell stories of survival. For Shariful, these surroundings are all he has ever known. Born on 12 July 2012, he grew up watching his mother struggle every day to provide for the family.

Shariful’s father, Md. Jalil, no longer stays with them. This absence left his mother, Mrs. Rekeya Begum, to shoulder everything alone. She works as a cleaner in an office – a job that demands long hours and brings in barely enough income to cover their basic needs.

Despite her hardships, she nurtures her son’s dreams with unwavering love.

The Battle to Stay in School

Shariful studies in Class 03, but every step of his education has been uncertain. Poverty creates invisible barriers: school fees, notebooks, uniforms, transportation, exam costs-each one feels like a mountain.

There are days when Shariful goes to school without proper supplies. Days when he quietly accepts that he may fall behind because he cannot afford tutoring or extra materials.
Yet, through all this, he remains determined.

His dream is clear and bold:
“One day, I want to become an engineer.”

It is not just a career goal. It is the hope of building a stable life for himself and his mother-a future where he can break the cycle of poverty that surrounds them.

A Heart Full of Talent

Beyond academics, Shariful has a gentle creative side. He loves drawing, often sketching scenes from his surroundings. He enjoys singing, letting music lift him from daily stress. These talents remind us that every child, no matter their background, carries gifts waiting to be nurtured.

Why Stories Like Shariful’s Matter

Children like Shariful are not asking for sympathy. They are asking for opportunity. A fair chance. A hand that says, “We believe in you.”

This is where Alingan Foundation steps in – providing educational sponsorships, school supplies, mentorship, and documentary storytelling to amplify the voices of children who are often overlooked.

Through sponsorship, Shariful can continue his schooling without interruption. He can stay focused on learning instead of worrying about school fees. He can continue dreaming without fear of those dreams disappearing.

You Can Be Part of His Journey

Your support can change Shariful’s life – and the lives of many other children in the slums of Bangladesh.
