Heart-Touching Story of Mohaton from Karail Slum

Support Posted on Mon, April 20, 2026 09:00:09

In the heart of Dhaka’s busy and crowded life, there are stories that rarely come into the spotlight. Stories that do not ask for attention, yet carry the deepest emotions of humanity. This is one such story—of an elderly woman living in Karail slum, facing life in her late 80s and early 90s, without the support of the family she once raised.

She once had a complete family-children, a home filled with voices, and dreams of growing old surrounded by love. But life took a different turn. Today, she lives in a small rented room, sharing space with a kind-hearted companion who also struggles to make ends meet. Together, they manage survival in the simplest way possible-day by day, moment by moment.

Age has not been kind to her body. Her eyes are weak, her vision blurred. Her back carries the pain of decades of hardship. Yet, what remains unbroken is something far more powerful—her will to live. Even in silence, she continues her journey with quiet dignity, proving that strength is not always loud; sometimes it exists in simply not giving up.

This story is not just about poverty or aging. It is about human resilience. It is about how life continues even when everything familiar disappears. It reminds us that behind every silent face, there may be a lifetime of untold struggles.

In today’s fast-moving world, we often forget to look around and see those who are left behind. Elderly people like her are not just statistics-they are living memories of our society. They once built families, worked hard, and contributed silently to the world we live in today. Now, they only ask for a little care, a little respect, and a little kindness.

Watching this story makes us reflect deeply: What does it mean to grow old in a world that moves too fast to notice you? And more importantly, what can we do as human beings to make someone’s final years feel less lonely?

Sometimes, inspiration does not come from success or achievement-it comes from survival. From the ability to wake up every morning despite pain, loneliness, and uncertainty. This elderly woman’s life is a reminder that dignity does not fade with age, and humanity still matters more than anything else.

May this story inspire us to be more aware, more compassionate, and more connected to those around us.

When Fire Took Everything – Shahidul’s Story from Korail Slum

Support Posted on Fri, December 05, 2025 06:00:00

In the heart of Dhaka city lies Korail Slum, a place full of dreams, struggles, and countless untold stories. Among these thousands of families, Shahidul and his small household lived a life filled with hardship — but also with hope. Shahidul is a rickshaw puller. His wife works in households to help support their family. Life was never easy, but they were surviving through dignity and hard work.

Their little home was built slowly, piece by piece, from their hard-earned money. Every pot, every blanket, every small item inside their home had a story. It took years of effort… but only a few minutes for everything to burn.

🔥 The Night Everything Changed

A sudden fire broke out in Korail, spreading rapidly from house to house. Panic filled the air. People ran, cried, screamed, and tried to save whatever they could.

But Shahidul’s family wasn’t that lucky.

Their home — the place where their children laughed, slept, and dreamed — was turned to ashes before their eyes.
They lost every single thing:
✔ Clothes
✔ Food
✔ Household items
✔ Savings
✔ Their home
✔ Their sense of safety

Standing under the open sky, with nothing left except burnt memories, the family is now struggling to rebuild their life again.

🌙 Under the Open Sky

Today, Shahidul, his wife, their son, and their daughter spend their nights under open air. No roof. No walls. Just uncertainty and fear.

Yet, even in this darkness, they hold on to hope — hope that someone will care, someone will help them stand up again.
