At Alingan Foundation, we believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of the circumstances they are born into. Through education sponsorship and heartfelt storytelling, we aim to empower slum children in Bangladesh to overcome hardship and follow their dreams.
Md Junayed Mahim is one of those children whose story inspires hope and action. Born on 21 September 2016, Mahim has been living with his mother, Mrs. Marium Begum, in the cramped lanes of Korail Matir Rasta, one of Dhaka’s largest slum areas. Life for Mahim and his mother is not easy. His father does not live with them, leaving all responsibilities on his mother’s shoulders. She works as a homeworker, earning just enough to cover basic needs and Mahim’s education.
Despite the challenges of financial hardship and limited space, Mahim’s determination to learn has never wavered. Every morning, he walks to school with dreams bigger than the tiny room he calls home. Mahim’s mother believes education is the only way to break the long-standing cycle of poverty and has instilled in him the value of knowledge and perseverance. She wants Mahim to have opportunities she never had.

Mahim is currently in Class 04, and his dream is to become an engineer. This dream is not just a wish for a career—it is a hope for a future where he can create a better life for himself and honor the sacrifices of his mother. Growing up without his father and facing the challenges of a single-parent household, Mahim’s resilience and determination stand as a testament to his inner strength.
Mahim’s story reminds us that poverty does not define potential. With the right support, children like him can achieve extraordinary things. Every small act of kindness—every contribution to their education—creates ripples of change that can transform lives.
